Christ made a major effort, through the Prophet Joseph Smith, to gather the scattered remnants of Israel and build Zion on earth at the beginning of the Latter-day Dispensation of the Gospel. Though this effort failed, perceptive saints found that Prophets in the Book of Mormon foretold that the Lord would later set His hand again the second time to successfully gather scattered Israel and build the foretold Zion on earth. And this great work would fulfill the eternal purposes of God for the creation of the earth.
