Baptism of Fire

King Benjamin taught his people the divine plan by which fallen people can be renewed spiritually in Jesus Christ. And he gave his people a name by which they were “distinguished above all the people which the Lord God had brought out of the land of Jerusalem.” He emphasized: “This I do because they have been a diligent people in keeping the commandments of the Lord.”[1]

The name which they were given was “the children of Christ, his sons and his daughters; for behold,” King Benjamin explained, “this day he hath spiritually begotten you; for you say that your hearts are changed through faith on his name; therefore, you are born of him and have become his sons and his daughters.”

He stressed: “And under this head you are made free, and there is no other head whereby you can be made free. There is no other name given whereby salvation cometh; therefore, I would that you should take upon you the name of Christ, all you that have entered into the covenant with God that you should be obedient unto the end of your lives.”[2]
