Free Agency

Free Agency is an inborn factor produced by the cushioning power of the atonement by which the Light of Christ is given to each person born on earth in its fallen temporal state. This Light, with the suspension of mortal man between glory and perdition, by the Fall of Adam, gives each person free spiritual moral agency, to move upward toward God by responding to the promptings of the Light of Christ or to descend deeper into spiritual darkness and death, by yielding to the corruption within mortal flesh by which the Adversary seeks to gain power over the individual. This right of choice is that which scripture calls Free Agency.

Free Agency is the right which mortal man has to express his will in his fallen state, to either utilize the Light or Spirit of Christ in choices that lead upward to God or to respond to the enticements of the Adversary, who operates through the fallen nature and the flesh, to choose that which leads to captivity and death.
